Glen Rounds' paper focus on his work as an author and illustrator of children's books. The collection contains production material for 141 titles published between 1936 and 1996. It includes holographs and typescripts, front matter, galley proofs, illustrations done in variety of media, studies and sketches done in a variety of media, separations, paste-ups and layouts, dummies, proofs, photocopies, book jackets, and notes. There is also substantial amount of correspondence to and from Glen Rounds, much of it concerned with the publication of his books, as well as letters from teachers, libraries and children

Glen Rounds was born April 4, 1906 near Wall, South Dakota. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute from 1926-1927, and later studied at the Art Student's League in New York City from 1930-1931. Early in his life, Glen Rounds worked as a cowboy, baker, sign painter, and textile designer before writing and illustrating his book, Ol' Paul, the Mighty Logger, in 1936.
